History of parkour.

The credit of invention of Parkour can not be given to one person because many people have worked on it and then this sport was introduced. A French naval officer, Georges Hebert, who served his country in the first and second world wars, developed earlier form of Parkour. The term ‘Parkour’ was first introduced by David Belle who was taught by his father in early 1980s. Parkour is also known as, ‘the art of displacement’. This sport was further popularized through media in 1990s when many films were made on it. Some practitioners expressed unhappiness when Parkour was introduced at a large scale. The reason behind this act was that while introducing it on a large scale the monopoly of those practitioners will be finished.

It is very important for a practitioner to understand the philosophy of parkour. Most of the traceurs are not aware about the philosophy of parkour. The basic theme of parkour is that people realize the ability given to them by God to protect and react on any unusual matter in daily life.
